Murder By Death
Stanley FAQ - Important Parking and Covid Information

Hey all, Stanley Hotel show FAQ below FAQ. Once we're through these shows we'll provide you with more info on the fall tour dates as we learn more about protocols for those events.

The Stanley shows are outside and we are following the guidance of Red Rocks nearby, which is successfully doing outdoor shows of 9000 capacity every day of the week. We work with one of the promoters who does shows there & we feel really good about these shows being outside.

We can't wait to play and we're extremely grateful to the promoters, agents, managers, hotel staff, stage crew/ our crew for doing all the extra work required to put these shows safely outside. It's gonna be gorgeous and unique, so let's have fun with it, as well as be respectful of each other and do our best to practice the covid safety habits that we are all so good at now.

FAQ

-The show will be outdoors and we want to keep it quiet for the neighbors of the hotel, so it is an early show!

-Doors at 5pm.

-We're on-stage at 6:30PM sharp.

-We're still dressing up! Why not?

-We will be announcing next year's January 2022 Stanley shows soon after we play these ones, it's a quick turnaround so stay tuned.

-There are very limited tickets for Sunday still available (it's 95%+ sold) http://store.murderbydeath.com/

-If you are looking to buy tickets to Friday or Saturday, or can no longer attend and need to sell your tickets there is a FB group to help safely facilitate that:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/mbdfantofanticketexchange

-Although vaccines are not required since the event is outdoors, we encourage everyone to get vaccinated. We request all attendees please wear masks in all public indoor spaces and when in close proximity to others and to be respectful of those around you.

-Guest Parking: There will be parking for hotel guests only with confirmed reservations for lodging, prepaid tours, and/or the Sinclair underground.

-Non-Guest Parking and Shuttle Service - there is no concert parking at the Stanley Hotel for non-guests unless mentioned above. You will need to park at the town Parking Garage. Once that is full, you can park at the Town Overflow Lot. We will have shuttle buses going back and forth from both the garage and the overflow lot to the Stanley Hotel starting at 4pm. Once the concert is over you can then take the bus back to the garage or overflow lot. The parking for the garage and the overflow lot is free. These parking structures are also less than a mile from The Stanley Hotel if you'd like to walk.

-The address of the Parking Garage is 645 CO-7, Estes Park, CO 80517.

-The address of the Overflow Lot is 1125 Rooftop Way Estes Park CO 80517.

-Another transportation option is the free town bus system.

-Dress in layers as the weather can change quickly in Estes Park. Please wear proper footwear as the concert site is an outdoor mountainous environment. Formal footwear is not recommended.

-Please check the weather before making your way to the show; the concert is rain or shine.

-The outdoor bar will accept both cash and credit cards.

-Please note that the main building and Lodge building will be restricted to only for Hotel guests and those with tour or dinner reservations.

-We strongly encourage making reservations in advance for activities and dining.

Thank you!

New Stanley Hotel Dates & An Updated Reissue of Our Rarities Collection "Skeletons In The Closet"
Stanely Poster 2021.jpg

The new Stanley Hotel dates will be Friday August 27, Saturday August 28, & Sunday August 29, 2021. Lots of info to go through here so gonna make this as simple as possible.

-In order to respect the surrounding neighbors and keep noise issues to a minimum, the show will now be slightly earlier than usual- DOORS AT 5:00PM MBD ON AT 6:30PM

-It will occur outside, in front of the Stanley, on one single weekend.

-If you have tickets for a Stanley Hotel show previously on a Friday, they'll be honored for Friday, Sat for Sat, and Sun for Sun, regardless of which weekend you originally purchased, since it is now all one weekend!

-If you are the rare person who has tickets for the same nights across both weekends, for example you bought tickets to both Saturdays but now there is only one Saturday show, email me at mbdband@gmail.com and I will get you sorted.

-The Friday and Saturday shows are sold out, but because it is outside we have opened up some tickets for the Sunday show at http://store.murderbydeath.com/

-We are still planning on doing January 2022 Stanley in the Concert Hall so we don't miss a year, but most likely fewer nights of shows.

**IMPORTANT** If you already have hotel reservations for the May dates, the hotel will contact you soon via phone or email to rebook you for the new weekend. They are holding rooms for all guests who have previously reserved rooms. Just sit tight and they will call you soon to transfer your reservation.

-They will also open up any remaining rooms for purchase after they've sorted out all rebooking for guests with existing reservations. We will post when this happens as soon as we hear from the hotel. Just to be clear, we have nothing to do with the hotel bookings so we cannot help with anything like that. They'll take care of ya.

-Check all our other rescheduled dates on our website, including cave shows and 20th anniversary shows. https://murderbydeath.com/mbd/#tour

THANK YOU for working with us on this. It has been a bear moving stuff around but we feel we can finally get those shows played, and you've helped us immensely in the meantime by continuing to support us.

If you have tickets you can't use due to postponements, we have set up a moderated Facebook Group to help facilitate Fan to Fan Exchanges to these events. Check it out here https://www.facebook.com/groups/mbdfantofanticketexchange/

Murder By Death
Lonesome Holiday Available Now!

Happy holidays! Maybe this is sappy but we are so so grateful for all your support during this unprecedented time. Between mail order, the holiday album, and the Patreon, we are all sustained through this long and weird period, only because of you folks. Thank you thank you thank you.

Lonesome Holiday is officially out! Get the vinyl at store.murderbydeath.com. There's only a couple hundred left.

You can also get digital dls at murderbydeath.bandcamp.com or listen on Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music.

Also, the patreon is well on its way and kicking butt! Thank you so much for signing up having a lot of fun doing it. So much more to come too! https://www.patreon.com/murderbydeath

Ps Did you see me on 2 minutes to late night? So silly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lci8f2Ll03c

Murder By Death
Holiday Album and Patreon!
MBD+Ogden+03.06.20-47_20200921180455755.jpg

Two big announcements!

We have launched a Patreon at   https://www.patreon.com/murderbydeath

We recently recorded a holiday album, preorder the vinyl at http://store.murderbydeath.com/

Introducing "Lonesome Holiday" - a collection of standards, originals & covers of Christmas songs, done in our spooky indie western style. Sad and slow, the perfect Christmas album for this shit show year, with an occasional upbeat song to dance nostalgically by the fire. Pre-order vinyl at http://store.murderbydeath.com/ - barring pandemic delays we expect them to show up to you mid December, but you'll get a download on December 1st either way. It will be available digitally on December 1st as well at https://murderbydeath.bandcamp.com/ and most other digital venues.  We're also selling new t-shirts, hats, and a reissue of the Finch EP (a soundtrack to Jeff Vandermeer's book) on vinyl individually and in bundles.

TENTSHOW37_front (1).jpg

In addition to the Christmas album,  we're doing a Patreon to get us through the dark timez, as this was something many of you have suggested. It'll be fun! Lots of art, old school stuff, music lessons, stuff about our process, performances, etc. If you sign up for the Patreon, you'll be messaged a $5 discount for the Christmas merch!  Since we have a lot more time on our hands from not playing shows, it gave us an opportunity to dig out some stuff from the archives, and take time to tell some stories from the 20+ years of Murder by Death. It's a lot to explain, so check it out at https://www.patreon.com/murderbydeath

We understand we are not the only people put out right now but we want to express how fortunate we are to have folks supporting us right now and thank you for even considering spending your dough on these goodies and patreon type things.

In other statements that can be filed under obvious, all touring is completely up in the air for now but we look forward to playing all shows we have previously announced at some point in the future once it is safe for everyone.  Keep an eye on our website for updates.

https://murderbydeath.com/tour-dates/

That said, there are VERY limited tickets available for a couple of the Stanley shows, and the Friday Cave show, we are shooting for May 2021.

**Note for previous Kickstarter Backers**

Kickstarter Backers from May's Apocalypse Rummage Sale who bought the SSE vinyl will be getting our next full length album of originals, (whenever that comes out) not the Christmas record.

Forever Club: you will be mailed Lonesome Holiday & the hat

Stanley 2021 Shows On Sale Now and Rescheduled Cave Show Dates
all stanley images.jpg

Stanley shows are about 85% sold out so if you have not purchased tickets please do sooner than later so we can all experience Estes Park and the Stanley Hotel in the Spring!

Year eight of our series at the Stanley Hotel will be held May 7, 8 & May 14, 15, 16 2021, to attempt to ensure that it can happen. If you don't already have tickets, get yours here at http://store.murderbydeath.com - Weekend passes previously bought through our Kickstarter will be honored for the respective weekends in May. We wanted to give folks enough time to set up travel, book the hotel, and to make sure the event can happen safely.

While on the subject of reschedules, we have decided to move the Halloween Cave shows to April 30 & May 1, 2021- tickets will be honored and we will still be celebrating like it's Halloween. The Saturday show is sold out, but limited tickets are still available for Friday, April 30 at http://store.murderbydeath.com/

If you have tickets you can't use due to postponements, we have set up a moderated Facebook Group to help facilitate Fan to Fan Exchanges to these events. Check it out here https://www.facebook.com/groups/mbdfantofanticketexchange/

Due to COVID, this event may need to be rescheduled. There are no refunds, but any tickets purchased will be honored at the rescheduled event. All government regulations and health official recommendations will be followed.

Unfortunately there is not a hotel discount code being offered this year, but we recommend booking rooms sooner than later at the hotel as this is more peak season than the usual January dates.

Murder By Death
KICKSTARTER! Limited Merch & Apocalypse Rummage Sale

NEW KICKSTARTER: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/murderbydeath/murder-by-death-limited-merch-and-apocalypse-rummage-sale

We are extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated fanbase, and during tough times it also feels like an incredible resource. We were discussing how to address our work situation for the next year, (there was a lot of touring planned that hadn't been announced yet) and so we came up with this idea to do a kickstarter that incorporates some of those plans, with the hope it will fill in some of the big gaps left in the wake of this tragic pandemic, and that later in the year we can continue performing for you.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/murderbydeath/murder-by-death-limited-merch-and-apocalypse-rummage-sale

In a nutshell, so far we have cancelled or postponed 3 tours due to the restrictions imposed on gatherings. That means that over a year of our band and crew's income went down the drain, with who knows what to come. It was also particularly bad timing because we were carrying debt from the tour that had not yet been made back so several of us have not been paid for the dates we'd already performed for our 20th Anniversary tour. To further complicate things, being self-employed, most of us have been denied or excluded from unemployment and are not eligible for disaster loans. We have spent the last five weeks applying for grants, loans, unemployment etc with mixed but mostly negative results. Not trying to complain, there's people in a lot worse situations than us, and if you are experiencing hardship from the pandemic, we encourage you to NOT participate in this Kickstarter, please consider your own needs first. We love you and need you to be well. If you do participate, not only will it help us get to zero, grant us a safety net for the future, but it also helps us pay the folks we work with; crew, artists, manufacturers, printers, managers, venues and the extremely vital US Post Office (whom we have shipped over 60,000 packages through, to date).

It's certainly not how we planned to spend this year, but we need to come up with some way to pay our bills, pay the people we work with, cover running expenses and any unforeseen expenses, and provide an emergency fund for band and crew as this extends further into the year.  The best idea we could come up with is to pre-sell some bundles for future concerts, a very flashy limited-only-to-this-kickstarter-version of whatever our next album is, and for your retail therapy in the meantime, some really cool shirts and posters. The majority of the Stanley tickets will go on sale as usual in August, and next year we will do a more regular kickstarter for the new album, with lots of fun options. In the meantime, if you are willing to help us out now, we'll make sure you're taken care of merch-wise and we'll rock your faces off as soon as things get back to "normal".

Concert dates are confirmed, but due to potential gathering restrictions, we will postpone them if necessary. If the uncertainty of the concert dates stresses you out, or puts you out, don't sweat it! By buying tickets now, you're securing a spot for whenever the next event happens, and you're helping us get through this period. If you're in a position to help, THANK YOU! And if you're not in a position to help THANK YOU and STAY SAFE TO ALL!

Love, MBD

p.s.  We can't stress this enough, but please only participate if you have the means to do so now.  Stanley, cave show tickets, and the new album will all be available later down the road so don't overextend yourself!

Covid-19 Update: Tour Postponement and Merch Webstore Update
Postponed Image.jpg

Covid-19 update. March shows postponed due to the outbreak, tickets will be honored. Hope to know more about May shows soon. Life has never felt more like a Murder By Death lyric. Event sizes are being restricted / limited & promoters and venues are not allowing the events to take place at this time. We are currently working on rescheduling all of the dates, same venues and with @amigothedevil so please just sit tight and we will post as soon as we have info- please don't reach out, we are overwhelmed with dealing with all the fallout and the extra emails and questions are disrupting our ability to get the work done. Just stayed tuned while we sort this out.

This tour was 10 months of work to book, organize, promote and prepare for and we are having to deconstruct and rebook it in a matter of days. It is the single most devastating thing to happen in our career, and we are crushed. We're heading home with stacks of bills and no tour pay, after what should have been a celebration and our most successful tour. It financially destroyed our income for the year. I honestly don't know what we are gonna do for our immediate concerns. Anyway, please hang in there and we will let you know about the rescheduled dates ASAP, obviously we hope it all blows over soon.

Also, please consider that your local venues, promoters and favorite bands have all just had the rug pulled out from under them. People in this industry don't have sick leave, usually don't have health insurance, and this effectively renders industry folk as fired from work for the indefinite future. I am aware that people who work in other industries are also affected and maybe you're strapped for cash, but please think about how the $25 or so you paid for tickets for any show is just one small part of many contributions that, if you don't ask for a refund asap, and instead go to a rescheduled show later this year, could help keep a local business open or a band together. Do what ye must, but do it with empathy!

Stay safe, wash those mitts, hug your loved ones (with just your eyes) and hunker down. Love to anyone affected by this, let's all try to keep each other healthy and please stay sane and kind

A lot of you have asked about tour merch or if you can help so we have put some of it up in our webstore.

Our site is at http://murderbydeath.bigcartel.com

That's a great way to help us out, but also consider not asking the venues for ticket refunds, as all tickets will be honored for the postponed dates. It's going to be hard for a lot of these venues and arts spaces to weather the storm, and even tho we don't directly benefit from you holding onto tickets until we play the shows, it will help those promoters and venues stay afloat. We're all in this together.
